Peninsula Comedy

About

Stand-up for the part of the Bay everyone drives through.

Peninsula Comedy is a collective of comedians bringing real stand-up to the towns between San Francisco and San Jose. The goal is simple: make the Peninsula a comedy destination instead of a place you pass on the way to a “real” show.

How it started

The first show was September 5, 2025 at The Rail, a sports bar on El Camino Real in San Carlos. Free to get in, a lineup pulled from the city clubs, and a room that had never hosted comedy before. It filled.

From there it was Marvin Gardens in Belmont, Blue Oak Brewing in San Carlos, then Sky Lounge in downtown San Mateo and Barracuda Sushi in Burlingame. By fall 2026 Peninsula Comedy was producing shows across San Mateo County, plus the open mics that feed them.

Every show runs the same way: a host, a handful of working comics, a headliner from the San Francisco Punchline, Cobb's, the San Jose Improv, Comedy Oakland or Rooster T. Feathers, and a bar that stays open. No drink minimum. Most shows are free, and the ones that are ticketed stay cheap.

What a Peninsula Comedy show is

  • Produced, not an open mic. Showcases are booked lineups with a headliner. Open mics are listed separately so you know which one you are walking into.
  • Free or cheap. Most rooms have no cover. Ticketed shows go through Eventbrite.
  • No drink minimum. Buy what you want. Tip the comics if the show was free.
  • Ninety minutes. Showcases run about an hour and a half. Open mics can go longer.
  • Local rooms. Bars, breweries and restaurants in San Mateo, Burlingame, San Carlos, Belmont and Redwood City.

Host and producer

Emon Dismore

Emon Dismore is a comedian born and raised in the Bay Area. Before Peninsula Comedy he built an audience with man-on-the-street interviews, short clips shot around the Bay that have pulled more than 40 million views on Instagram alone.

He founded Peninsula Comedy in 2025 and hosts and produces every show on the calendar, from the Saturday showcase at Sky Lounge to the Monday open mic at Blue Oak. He books the lineups, runs the mics, and is the one at the door.

He also performs regularly on his own shows and around the Bay Area comedy circuit.
